Emily saying goodbye to her Daddy.
I had other pics of David on our laptop but we can't get online using it so I am posting this one of David holding my whelk for the shell shot on flickr. Saying goodbye to Matt. So sweet of him to wear his roatan shirt in honour of our leaving.

Well folks this is it.
We were able to get my passport one day early so we are taking the ferry from Victoria to Washington.
Bob just said, "our last breakfast in Canada" (what a sentimental guy!)
Can't write much as we need to finish getting ready.
But thanks for your prayers... keep em coming! :-)

Note: We did'nt catch the 3:00 ferry because it was full so Bob and I ended up wandering around the harbour area, talked to the kids of the phone (they were working or at school) David actually came down to see us as we were leaving but the gate was closed so all we could do was wave.
Leaving the kids...
There is an ache that is indescribable that I felt as each one of the kids walked away.We said goodbye to them throughout the day. Emily at her house as she left for school. David we went to Starbucks and had a break with him and then said goodbye outside of Safeway. Matt came downtown and we stood outside Ali Baba's on Fort Street and said goodbye there. In all those cases there were people walking by totally unaware of the turmoil and sorrow of leaving those you love. It is hard to explain unless you are a Mother yourself who has had to face leaving your children for a long period of time. And yet, there also came a strange sense of peace that they were out of my hands and into HIS. It may sound trite but it is deeply true. This has been a journey of trust all along the way and this is just another opportunity to believe truly that the Lord will and is taking care of them even better then we do.
I've been off-line for a few days and am just catching up on your trip today. The blog was a fantastic idea. You can keep everyone connected to the journey at the same time. We're expecting Hurricane Hanna this weekend, we hope she's not related to Juan.
ReplyDeleteGod Bless, Safe journey, I look forward to the continuing installments. Love, Louise
